Information for Coaches

Dates

Monday, December 1st: IMPACT Training - 6:00 PM @ Ed Service Center/Crawford School, Upstairs Conference Room

IMPACT Certification (Coaching Certification)
It is now required that all coaches for every USAV juniors team be IMPACT Certified. This requirement was voted in to help cover liability issues for the Regions, Junior Clubs, Junior Teams and Junior Coaches. High school coaching certifications will not be accepted to fulfill this requirement. Coaches must attend an IMPACT Clinic or be CAP I or CAP II certified to meet this requirement. If you have attended an IMPACT clinic in past years this will meet the requirement. All Junior Coaches need to be IMPACT certified by February 15th.

Thursday, December 4th: Coaches Meeting - 5:00 to 8:30 @ Ed Service Center/Crawford School, Downstairs Conference Room

We will complete tournament registrations, order coaches shirts, and distribute equipment including coach notebooks. Time frame should allow all coaches to attend within the window. We want to be leaving at 8:30, so plan accordingly.

These forms should help you get organized. Please complete what you can prior to the meeting. The tournament schedule will change daily, so check it often. The registrations will be placed in the mail on Saturday, Dec. 6th. Registrations for President's Day, Feb 14th and 15th have already been mailed. The IMAGE SPORT/ASICS tourney will not be held this year due to site availability.

MATERIALS

This coaching book will be released at the 2008 NCAA Volleyball
Championships in Omaha. This is a book that focuses on coaching, leadership and team-building based
on my experience as the head volleyball coach at the University of Nebraska and as director of leadership
academies at Creighton, Colorado State and the University of Denver. It is quite different than any other
coaching book that I am familiar with, and you can order it online today at (www.terrypettit.com).

Talent and the Secret Life of Teams does not attempt to tell you how to coach, but rather shares with you the decisions,
challenges and values that I tried to integrate into my own coaching journey.
