Regional Teams    12-18's
Will be those teams put together in any age division where the talent justifies a high level
team, but there was not enough interest or commitment to form a national team.  “Regional”
by our definition is simply a team that could have possibly been a national team had there
been a higher level of commitment. It is simply the designation provided by Iowa Heart volleyball club to distinguish the different levels of commitment. The “regional” team will travel throughout the state of playing in gold or silver level tournaments. Regional team coaches will work with players to develop all-around skills in practice, especially at the lower levels; however, specialization will occur. In some cases, a player may not have the physical characteristics to play front row or back row. It's possible that a player may only play the front or back row. Playing time on the regional team is earned and based on a coach's discretion. A coach has the discretion to play players of his/her choice if a game is critical to advancement in a tournament. Regional team members are expected to be available to attend all tournaments and practices unless the player makes prior arrangements with the coaches for any absences.

National Teams      13-18's
Will be the best teams in the proposed age group where the talent and
the commitment justifies having a “National” team. This team is expected to compete and to be competitive in the Qualifier division or the Gold Division of Non-Qualifying division at the annual USA Regional Tournament in Des Moines. If there is not enough talent to justify this team, regardless of the amount of interest, it will be reduced to a regional level team.  The board, Club Director, and coaching staff will collaborate to determine the competition level of the age-group based on the talent, the level of interest, and the level of commitment of try-out participants.  National team players will be 'specialized' (setter, middle hitter, outside hitter, etc.).  A coach has the discretion to play players of his/her choice at all times. Playing time on the national team is earned and based on a coach's discretion. Team members are expected to have a high level of commitment to club volleyball, placing it as their top priority to other non-school extracurricular activities.
